why are we sprinting when we're already there?

so the story below is not a record of an actual divine encounter, i was simply thinking about an incredible mountain I climbed last weekend and also about life at home and what that would look like. One word came to mind: BUSY. not necessarily doing unfruitful things, but just busy. The combination of the mountain and that word was reflected upon. My thoughts/Gods ideas?(always skeptical to write something like that, i may be a liar and God may fully disagree, but anyways...) this is how it came out in writing, so i'm going to post and make of it what you'd like...

Enough.

Higher-faster-steeper-smarter-skinnier- richer –accomplish.

Gently He strokes my hair. My words begin to drown into His presence until completely hushed. My racing pulse slows to a jog. Eyes become curious, I gaze into His. They’re blue. The blue of salty tears, summer sun skies, glacial ponds reflecting peaks; blue that splashes, soaks and surrounds.

He carries me to the mountains, a place that always brings my heart to its knees and soul into worship. And asks me a question; what has this mountain accomplished?

Accomplished? My mind begins to race, I’ve climbed its peaks, but I guess that would be my accomplishment …ummm… it hasn’t moved, it has no words, can’t read, can’t cure cancer or solve world hunger. It can’t win any sports games or earn a dime. It can’t, well, really do anything, but just be a mountain.

But that is exactly it, He explains. The mountain just is “mountain,” living in the beauty of its creation. Day in and day out the mountain stands, authentically. Each rocky ridge exposed, open to the changing weather, welcoming dancing rays or snarling winds. The blanketed peaks reflect sunsets of rosy pinks and passionate orange. Slanted sides become slides that collect drops and guide them off of falls and into winding rivers that bring life. Its rocky faces provided challenges that break down walls between people and among hearts. Their ears open, eyes become alert and worries wander. Among these mountains people find Me.

You, Annika Jean Lider, you too are enough. No lists, résumés, collection of gold stars needed, just you are enough. You are a reflection of the beauty of creation, your smile reflects rosy reds and heart passionate orange. If you allow yourself to live in that, I too will use you to bring life, to breakdown walls, open hearts. I will shape you, expose you, cover you and comfort you. Stop running, thinking, planning, wishing, lusting, driving-enough, you alone are enough.

Shmonie,

Thank you for your words. My roomies and I shared those same thoughts this morning as we stood on a snow-capped mountain peak in Idaho.

Here's a little nugget for you:
Psalm 36: 5-7
Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast. How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
